The benefits of padel, by Jorge Rodriguez

Padel is one of the most comprehensive sports there are, since it puts many physical qualities into practice, resulting in improved fitness, and is suitable for all ages and abilities.

First of all, let me introduce myself: I’m Jorge Rodriguez, Juan Lebron‘s padel coach, and I’d like to talk to you about the benefits of padel.

The benefits of participating in any sport, regardless of age or ability, have been widely proven, not only by science but also by the sense of well-being that comes from being physically fit and healthy.
But what, exactly, are the benefits of playing padel?

Let’s start with the fitness aspect.

One of the many objectives that we seek to achieve through participating in sport is to improve general muscle tone, and playing padel even helps tone the muscles in the face, because you will not stop smiling. It also improves our coordination, mobility and reflexes.
Another factor to take into account is the workout it gives the gluteal muscles and all the muscles we use in the arms, making our posture firmer.

As a cardiovascular workout, it will help us lose weight and encourage us to eat a healthier diet. Playing padel can burn between 700 and 1000 calories. Yes, you read that right!

Padel improves aerobic capacity, which helps prevent health risk factors and will make your heart stronger and more efficient, not to mention the fact that playing padel will leave you so tired that you’ll sleep like a baby that night.

What’s not to love! It does help us to rest at night, although maybe less so if tomorrow’s match is against that opponent who’s been keeping you awake at night…

A game of padel will alleviate stress after a hard day at work, and that’s the best anti-depressant there is. You’ll feel happy and light-hearted as your body secretes dopamine, endorphins and serotonin – the well-known happiness hormones! It also helps slow the ageing process, as well as leaving you feeling stronger and more confident. The human body needs to move. There’s a saying on social media that goes “we don’t stop moving because we grow old, we grow old because we stop moving”. Padel is a sport for all ages.

What more reason could you need to get hooked on this fantastic sport?
See you on the court!

Jorge.
